SNIP Sunday – We did it again!
On Sunday the 8th October, our staff volunteered their time and resources to desex an amazing 41 cats. Thank you to all the responsible cat owners who took part in our second round of SNIP Sunday. Thanks to you, there will be less unwanted kittens born in Spring. The money raised from this event goes straight into our kitten re-homing program.
Every year we get hundreds of kittens brought into the clinic as a result of too many undesexed cats, euthanising them is just heartbreaking so we developed our non for profit SNIP kitten rescue and adoption program. Since then we have successfully re-homed 500 desexed, vaccinated and microchipped kittens.
This decreases the number of unwanted kittens, and raises money for our wonderful charity SNIP, which re-homes unwanted kittens to loving new homes.
Thank you to everyone who helped us raise these vitally needed funds!
Please help us and do your bit for the community by desexing your pet cat, together we can reduce the amount of unwanted litters of kittens being dumped or abandoned.
We Can End Parvo!
There has been recent outbreaks of the deadly Parvovirus in surrounding suburbs. In our local areas, there has been less Parvovirus than we have had in years! Congratulations to the community! We have already vaccinated 500 dogs this year. Parvovirus outbreaks have been all around us but hardly touched us.
It’ll be back in September so we need to be vigilant with our vaccinations.
If your dog hasn’t been vaccinated in the last 12 months, please get them up to date before spring arrives. It is so important to not only get puppies vaccinated but also adult dogs. Adult dogs with lapsed or no vaccination immunity will actually shed the virus in their faeces.
Did you know: Just 1 gram of virus, that’s a kidney bean sized piece of faeces, can contain enough virus to infect 1000 dogs.
We walk it around on our shoes and it remains in the environment for 12 months. Vaccinated dogs do no shed virus, therefore they do not spread the disease.
Vaccination is easy. At Pet Medical we hold a $30 vaccination clinic every Sunday at Muswellbrook between 12 and 2 pm. We also offer a free vaccination if your dog is seen for a health consultation.
Vaccination is not just about you, it’s about the health of our dogs in our community. It’s a terrible disease that causes immense suffering and often death. Pet Medical is on a mission to eradicate Parvovirus from our community in just three years. Please help us by making sure your dog or puppy is up to date with their vaccinations. Beating this deadly virus only takes a little time and money. Please do your part and make sure your puppy is protected.
